Meet Deborah Shaw for Judge
Candidate for Court of Common Pleas
A life-long Lawrence County resident, Attorney Deborah Shaw was born in New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, and has focused her legal career serving the Lawrence County community. She maintains a home in Shenango Township. Attorney Shaw attended Laurel School District where she graduated Valedictorian of her high school class. She went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree from Westminster College in political science. Thereafter, Attorney Shaw earned a juris doctorate degree from Ohio Northern University College of Law. During her term at Ohio Northern University College of Law, she was a member of Law Review and was elected to serve as the Ohio Review Editor.
Attorney Shaw was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1997 and began her legal career by entering private practice in New Castle. In addition to maintaining a private practice for over 27 years, Attorney Shaw established a commitment to public service as counsel for dependency and delinquency cases and a court appointed guardian ad litem. Attorney Shaw additionally served as solicitor for Hickory Township from 2016 to 2017.
Attorney Shaw has been appointed to serve the Courts as the Lawrence County Divorce Hearing Officer and Lawrence County Custody Conciliation Officer. As an extension of the Court, Attorney Shaw’s work in these capacities provides her with the experience needed to serve as Judge for the Court of Common Pleas. Attorney Shaw is an active member of the Lawrence County Bar Association and Pennsylvania Bar Association. She has served as a board member of the City Rescue Mission, having served as President and served on the Laurel Community Foundation. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Children’s Advocacy Center. Deborah received the 2000 Public Service Award from the Lawrence County Court of Common Pleas and Lawrence County Bar Association.
She attends Harlansburg Presbyterian Church where she has served as an elder and church organist.
